Music Director, St. Paul's Co-educational College and Primary School
Warren was born to be a music genius. His brilliant music journey embarked at the age of 6 when he became the focal point on stage as a pianist performing with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. His musical upbringing was even documented on TVB’s “Sunday’s File” in 1993.
After completing his music education in The Royal Academy of Music and Yale School of Music with the highest of honors, he went back to Hong Kong and started his career as a music educator and a concert pianist having performed on many prominent occasions over the world and with numerous honors.
Warren does not only prove himself to be an exceptional pianist and devoted educator, but also an all-round talent and keen learner. In 2006, he decided to take a totally different challenge by studying HKUST’s MBA full time program to equip himself with the management knowledge and most of all, make a difference to his life.
The study at HKUST has exerted significant and lifelong impact on him. “Before I took the program, I was merely an outsider of business studies. The one year study provided me with an excellent learning environment to acquire knowledge on business management and practical skills which can fully be applied in my job. I learned how to analyse critically and knew myself much more.” Today, Warren still keeps close contact with HKUST and is frequently invited by his MBA classmates to be speaker for parent seminars on music education.
As an experienced music educator, pianist and parent, Warren shares that only love for music can motivate children to truly enjoy playing piano. Children learn to be disciplined, attentive to details and to work hard through music. “No matter how fast the technology advances, you still have to spend the same amount of time to practice and master a piano piece. There is no exception.”
